Chopin in Tomsk?
Why?

City of Tomsk, called the Athens of Siberia and famous for its wonderful academic traditions, every third year invites young pianists to participate the Siberian International Chopin Piano Competition. Exactly in this city, for the first time in Siberia and probably in the whole Asia, works of this great composer have been performed. Performance took place approximately in 1864, at the salon of the Tomaszewski family, where Chopin's scores were encountered together with Polish exiles. The Siberian Chopin Piano Competition has been a regional event for many years and finally in 2010, a Chopin Year, gained an International Status.

So far Grand Prix of the Siberian International Chopin Piano Competition came to:
Zhao Ying (China) in 2010
Łukasz Krupiński (Poland) in 2013
and Valeria Lakhman (Russia) in 2016.
